Alana, Practice Manager
Alana is our practice manager that started at Eastside Animal Hospital in 2000 and has worked her way from receptionist to assistant to manager.

Degree/College: - Currently in progress of becoming a CVPM (Certified Veterinary Practice Manager)
Certs/Groups: Stem Cell Certified. Member of: - VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Managers Association) and Middle Tennessee Practice Managers
What made you interested in vet med? - “The gross stuff and then being able to help the animal.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “Meeting other people who share the same passion as I do.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “Understand that pets are long term commitment, that requires time, energy and finances. This allows the pet to have a long, healthy life and bring years of enjoyment to their family.”
What are your specific areas on interest in vet med? - “Surgery and business – it has changed during the years.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We are a small, privately owned clinic that has served the community for almost 40 years.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Early 2000’s Rom-coms”
My favorite breed of animal is: - “Don’t have a favorite – all breeds have pros/cons and o well in specific situations.”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “RZR riding, spending time with family and friends.”
What animals do you currently have? - “ 3 cats – Twinkle, Rocki and Ramona. 3 dogs- Paisley (standard poodle), Lizabella (mixed), Cinch (mini aussie). 6 chickens- Dunkin, Bertha, Blanche, Rose, Sophia & Dorothy.”

Sherry is our lead client service representative that has been bringing smiles to our clients since 1992.

What made you interested in vet med? - “Getting to meet people and the love for animals.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “I enjoy working with my coworkers and the care we all have for each animal that comes in.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “Keeping their pets up to date on vaccines.”
What are your specific areas on interest in vet med? - “Helping clients get the best service at our office and making sure they leave with a smile and feeling like a friend.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We care for pets and people.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Gone With The Wind, I Love Lucy and reality TV.”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “NASCAR, going to the beach and laying out by our pool.”
Kyla, Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician
Kyla is our licensed Veterinary Medical Technician who has been part of the team since 2012 after graduating and receiving her license.

Degree/College: - Associates of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology, Columbia State Community College
Certs/Groups: - Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician since 2011, Stem Cell Certified, Cat Friendly Veterinary Advocate (CFVA) by The American Association of Feline Practitioners, Member of the Tennessee Veterinary Technicians Association
I’ve worked in the veterinary field since: - “I started in 2001 as a kennel assistant in a small clinic in northern California and worked my way up to assistant/receptionist. I have been a LVMT with Eastside Animal Hospital since 2012.”
What made you interested in vet med? - “I accidentally found my love of veterinary medicine early in life when I needed a part time job during high school to keep my gas tank full. I started out as a kennel assistant and would find myself hanging out in the treatment area watching amazing techs help and treat pets. I had an amazing mentor that fueled my love of animals and science.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “I like that every day is never the same and love learning about new treatments and medical findings. There is always something to learn.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “I wish pet owners would be more proactive with having pet insurance or having savings set aside for the unexpected. Proactive care/preventions are usually much less expensive and less life threatening than treating the disease itself.”
What are your specific areas of interest in vet med? - “I love oral surgery and kitten and puppy visits.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We are a team of dedicated people who love to have fun, treat every pet like they are our own, always try our best and go the extra mile for our clients.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Dances with Wolves, Pioneer Women”
My favorite breed of animal is: - “Beagles”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “Traveling out West to South Dakota/Wyoming, riding our Ranger, raising our flock of chickens on our ranch, reading and a new found love of going on cruises.”
What animals do you currently have? - “Remi – a senior beagle living her best life, 4 cats, and a flock of chickens= chicken math…if you know, you know!”
