Alana, Practice Manager
Alana is our practice manager that started at Eastside Animal Hospital in 2000 and has worked her way from receptionist to assistant to manager.

Certs/Groups: Stem Cell Certified. Member of: - VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Managers Association) and Middle Tennessee Practice Managers
What made you interested in vet med? - “The gross stuff and then being able to help the animal.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “Meeting other people who share the same passion as I do.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “Understand that pets are long term commitment, that requires time, energy and finances. This allows the pet to have a long, healthy life and bring years of enjoyment to their family.”
What are your specific areas on interest in vet med? - “Surgery and business – it has changed during the years.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We are a small, privately owned clinic that has served the community for almost 40 years.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Early 2000’s Rom-coms”
My favorite breed of animal is: - “Don’t have a favorite – all breeds have pros/cons and o well in specific situations.”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “RZR riding, spending time with family and friends.”
What animals do you currently have? - “ 3 cats – Twinkle, Rocki and Ramona. 3 dogs- Paisley (standard poodle), Lizabella (mixed), and chickens
Sherry, Lead Client Service Representative
Sherry is our lead client service representative that has been bringing smiles to our clients since 1992.

What made you interested in vet med? - “Getting to meet people and the love for animals.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “I enjoy working with my coworkers and the care we all have for each animal that comes in.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “Keeping their pets up to date on vaccines.”
What are your specific areas on interest in vet med? - “Helping clients get the best service at our office and making sure they leave with a smile and feeling like a friend.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We care for pets and people.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Gone With The Wind, I Love Lucy and reality TV.”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “NASCAR, going to the beach and laying out by our pool.”

Katlyn, Client Service Representative
Katlyn is one of our smiling faces you first meet when you walk through Eastside’s door.

What made you interested in vet med? -"I love all animals and it made sense to make a career out of what I love."
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “The animals of course.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “Being proactive in your pets care: vaccines and annual visits are so important. Don’t wait until your pet is acting like its in pain or not feeling well. ”
What are your specific areas of interest in vet med? - “All of it. I am continuously trying to learn more to better serve our clients.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We truly care about your pets and always work in the best interest of the animals we are treating.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Dirty Dancing, Pretty Women and The Holiday. TV: Friends, Scandal and Sex and The City.”
My favorite breed of animal is: - “Dogs, specifically shelties ”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “Spending time with my husband and 2 boys, anything outdoors and reading.”
What animals do you currently have? - “6 Dogs: 1 husky, 3 shelties, a terrier mix and a mutt. ”
Kyla, Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician
Kyla is our licensed Veterinary Medical Technician who has been part of the team since 2012 after graduating and receiving her license.

Certs/Groups: - Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician since 2011, Stem Cell Certified, Cat Friendly Veterinary Advocate (CFVA) by The American Association of Feline Practitioners, Member of the Tennessee Veterinary Technicians Association
I’ve worked in the veterinary field since: - “I started in 2001 as a kennel assistant in a small clinic in northern California and worked my way up to assistant/receptionist. I have been a LVMT with Eastside Animal Hospital since 2012.”
What made you interested in vet med? - “I accidentally found my love of veterinary medicine early in life when I needed a part time job during high school to keep my gas tank full. I started out as a kennel assistant and would find myself hanging out in the treatment area watching amazing techs help and treat pets. I had an amazing mentor that fueled my love of animals and science.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “I like that every day is never the same and love learning about new treatments and medical findings. There is always something to learn.”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “I wish pet owners would be more proactive with having pet insurance or having savings set aside for the unexpected. Proactive care/preventions are usually much less expensive and less life threatening than treating the disease itself.”
What are your specific areas of interest in vet med? - “I love oral surgery and kitten and puppy visits.”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “We are a team of dedicated people who love to have fun, treat every pet like they are our own, always try our best and go the extra mile for our clients.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “Dances with Wolves, Pioneer Women”
My favorite breed of animal is: - “Beagles”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “Traveling out West to South Dakota/Wyoming, riding our Ranger, raising our flock of chickens on our ranch, reading and a new found love of going on cruises.”
What animals do you currently have? - “Tatanka” a rescued beagle, 3 cats, and a flock of chickens= chicken math…if you know, you know!”
Beverly, Veterinary Assistant
Beverly is currently a veterinary assistant and is working to get her veterinary technology license reinstated within the next year.

What made you interested in vet med? -"My family had a cocker spaniel that passed away suddenly and not being able to do anything at that time opened my interest into the field."
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - “The feeling I get when I can discharge a patient after a full recovery and the sense of peace knowing I’m helping one patient at a time. ”
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - “The importance of microchipping pets. It is so helpful in the event of a simple lost dog situation or natural disaster occurrence.”
What are your specific areas of interest in vet med? - “I really enjoy cases involving eye care and running in-house laboratory procedures. ”
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - “Our connections with our clients and patients as well as the one we build within our clinic, keeps us going. We love being able to take care of every patient that comes through our doors.”
My favorite movie/TV show? - “TV: Bones, Criminal Minds and The Librarians which I do yearly rewatches of. Movies: Pride & Prejudice, Dodgeball: An Under Dog Story and Shrek.”
My favorite breed of animal is: - “Corgis, otters, sea turtles and any kitty that graces the planet.”
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - “As a certified bibliophile, I spend a lot of time with my nose in books. But I also love to go to preds games and go on cruises. I love to kayak, travel, going to the gym and spend time with friends. I am a giant foodie, so finding new restaurants and eating new foods are some of my favorite experiences. ”
What animals do you currently have? - “My oldest child “Mr. Fabio”: a grey and white tuxedo cat I have had since graduating high school, my mild child “Delilah”: a dalmatian/pit mix that I adopted when I was in the vet tech program, my youngest child “Hackie Sac”: a calico tabby that I rescued as a kitten who is feisty as they come and keeps my hands full.”
Khayden, Veterinary Assistant
Khayden is a veterinary assistant currently enrolled in Columbia State’s Veterinary Technology Program.

What made you interested in vet med? -"I have loved animals since I was very young and want to work with them."
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - "'Helping people and their animals because I know how much I love and want the best care for mine."
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - "I wish people knew that veterinary staff have their pet’s best interest in mind when recommending services and treatments. To be more mindful of things that can cause health issues and to bring pets in sooner when something seems wrong."
What are your specific areas of interest in vet med? - "I would love to work eventually work with exotics."
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - "I enjoy my time here and always have fun working with my coworkers and love the patients."
My favorite movie/TV show? - "Criminal Minds – I have seen all seasons several times over. I love the movie Coraline and watch it every year with friends for my birthday. "
What are your hobbies, interest, or free time activities? - "Reading, arts and crafts and playing with my puppies."
What animals do you currently have? - "Two chinchillas: “Danie and Bean”, “Mouse”: a long-haired GSD and “Ghenesys”: a husky, lab, GSD mix."
Paige, Veterinary Assistant
Paige is a veterinary assistant currently enrolled in Penn Fosters Veterinary Technician Program.

What made you interested in vet med? -" I grew up helping my grandparents on their farm. I have always loved livestock and dogs."
What do you enjoy most about working in the animal health care field? - "'I love not only helping the animals but also helping their families."
What are one or two things do you wish more pet owners knew, or did, regarding pet care? - "Two things I wish more owners did is getting your pets microchipped and keeping up with yearly check ups."
What are your specific areas of interest in vet med? - "I would love to work with livestock and large animals."
What would you like clients to know about Eastside Animal Hospital? - "It is a very welcoming place, and I really enjoy everyone here."
